First off, I hate needles. As a little girl, I often fainted with needles. Having babies cured a lot of it, but still ... I hate needles. These do not hurt and definitely don't feel like IV needles or finger sticking ones!
What brought me to acupuncture? An annoying tingling in my feet that seemed to stem from hurting my hip, and lower back pain from desk work. The tingling was worse at night when I was trying to go to sleep. My family doctor sent me to a neurosurgeon in Anderson. From scans, he said I had a good deal of inflammation at my L4 and L5 area in my lower back, which would be the cause of the tingling, related to the sciatica. What's crazy is that he is the one who told me that he highly suggested I try acupuncture before going any further with him. He told me he knew that it was probably surprising to come from him, but he had a coworker previously in the ER who was an avid runner and had injured herself. He said she was near surgery, struggling for a year with no improvement, and tried an acupuncturist out of desperation. He said she made a believer out of many physicians around him because the acupuncture helped the inflammation, enabled her to heal, and she had fully resumed running. I learned about Affordable Acupuncture from my chiropractor. They had heard all good things and told me they truly were the most affordable around. They are! Less than half the price of most acupuncturists. And after two treatments, no more tingling in my foot! I also have since learned they offer other things like immunity injections, B injections, all kinds of supplements, and after each treatment, a complementary 5-minute massage on your most problematic area.
